It took me a long time to really be honest with myself. There have been many times in my career and in my personal life that I tried to take the easy route or as some might say "short stepping it". At the time, I knew I was, but I would convince myself that I'll make up for it another time. The problem I found with this is you become complacent and that could become a slippery slope.
So, I ask you today to ask yourself and be brutally honest. What did you do to become great today? What did you do to reach your goals today? To be brutally honest, do you think that most people really care about your goals? The reality is, no one really cares about them. They are your goals so own them regardless of what others might think. Whatever your goals are, stretch yourself and do something you know is going to be difficult, but do it on purpose.
Do you know the feeling of being scared is literally one of the biggest motivators on the planet? Big obstacles create growth! They create fear which creates the ability to do things that you couldn't do. Without fear you don't grow, you don't get better. You don't become great by sitting on the couch.
Setting big goals is not a bad thing. Set a goal that might embarrass you or make you feel uncomfortable. That feeling in your gut is the motor. That feeling of being uncomfortable is what's going to help motivate you to reach that goal. Getting uncomfortable is exactly what will drive you to achieve anything that you set out to do. If you're comfortable you're not reaching, you're not really digging in.
How many times have you run across something where in the middle of it you're like, "Oh my God! How am I ever going to get through this?" And then when it's finished you say that was the best thing that ever happened to me. That's the motor to motivate you to reach your goals. So, go out there and challenge yourself today you just might surprise yourself.
